Continental Airlines Reschedules Deliveries of Boeing Aircraft for 2002

HOUSTON, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines
(NYSE: CAL) today announced that it has finalized its previously announced
rescheduling of aircraft orders with The Boeing Company. Under its amended
agreements with Boeing, Continental will now take delivery of 20 of the
48 Boeing aircraft previously scheduled to deliver in 2002.
During 2002, Continental will take delivery of two 777-200ERs, ten 767-
400ERs, two 757-300s, two 737-900s and four 737-800s. To date, the airline
has received seven of the 20 aircraft.
The new delivery schedule better matches the carrier's revised aircraft
needs resulting from its previously announced schedule reductions. The
28 deferred aircraft, along with Continental's other 39 outstanding orders,
will deliver between late 2003 and mid 2008.
Continental currently operates a fleet of 356 jets, and Continental
Express flies 142 regional jets and 33 turboprops. With an average jet fleet
age of 5.2 years, Continental operates the youngest jet fleet among the major
U.S. carriers.
Continental Airlines is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering
more than 2,000 departures daily to 126 domestic and 89 international
destinations. Operating hubs in New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam,
Continental serves more international cities than any other U.S. carrier,
including extensive service throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. For
more information, visit continental.com.
Continental was named the 2001 Airline of the Year by Air Transport World,
as well as the 1996 Airline of the Year, making it the only carrier to receive
this honor twice in five years. For the fourth consecutive year, Continental
was named one of the 100 Best Places to Work For by FORTUNE magazine, and is
ranked the nation's No. 1 airline in customer satisfaction for long and short-
haul flights by Frequent Flyer Magazine and J.D. Power and Associates.
Continental has received numerous awards for its BusinessFirst premium cabin
(Conde Nast Traveler, OAG, Entrepreneur and SmartMoney magazines), OnePass
frequent flyer program (InsideFlyer's Freddie Awards) and overall operations
and management (FORTUNE magazine).
