I wonder if the flight was late or if it was operating on schedule?

Anyway, I'm not sure what their concern is with the exit door. You can't open it during cruise although I can understand the desire to not have some crazy guy screwing with it.

What's going to stop you from opening it in cruise? If anything, you've got the pressure differential on your side...
