U.S. Military Reduces Air Patrols Over United States

U.S. Military Reduces Air Patrols Over United States

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration is reducing the intense level of fighter jet patrols over the United States prompted by the Sept. 11 attacks but will retain a mix of fewer patrols and planes waiting on alert on runways, defense officials said Monday.

They said round-the-clock patrols would end over New York City but would be continued over Washington, D.C.

The move over the coming weeks follows steps to improve security at airports and on commercial airliners after the attacks, when hijacked airliners were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City and into the Pentagon (news - web sites).
Yeah, it's about time to lighten up on security. With all these improvements at airports, the problem is as good as solved!
