The strong case for 'buy-and-ignore' investing

How often do you look at your online portfolio? Did you check it when you went on your honeymoon? On vacation in Katmandu? Retirement questions?

I think most investors who describe themselves as buy-and-holders check too often and, as a result, trade too often. So I decided to do a little experiment: I didn't look at my portfolio for six months.
