Starwood Reports a Loss on Travel Slump

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. reported a fourth-quarter loss as revenues tumbled amid an economic downturn and the travel crisis after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, but they expect to benefit as the economy rebounds later this year. Starwood reported a loss from continuing operations before items of $2 million, or 1 cent per share, compared with a profit of $130 million, or 64 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.
