Club Swiss Gold is by "invitation only," which means that they require five "qualifying" stays before you're invited.

So I just booked my 20-Oct through 10-Nov stay at Swissôtel Basel. What exactly makes a "qualified" stay? Can I just check out and immediately back in every three or four days during my stay?
Is it worth the trouble?

It's always nice to be recognized as "gold" by the staff. However, besides room upgrades and such, there's not much to the program.

If you have an American Express Platinum card (and book through PTS), you'll get comparable published benefits.

Spoke with Amex Platinum Travel this morning and they were unable to offer me any compelling reason to book the stay through them. Rates matched the web rates I'd gotten and Amex has no special relationship with Swissôtel that would yield any sort of preferential treatment.
