America West CEO sees no revenue rebound for 2002

[quote]
NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - America West Airlines, a unit of America West Holding (NYSE:AWA - news), said on Tuesday it sees no rebound in revenues for the airline industry for the next 12 to 18 months as carriers struggle with a decline in travel demand.

America West Chief Executive Doug Parker told investors during a Salomon Smith Barney transportation conference in New York that the airline does not expect revenues to return to pre-Sept. 11 levels in 2002.

Parker said America West is still burning through $1 million to $2 million in cash a day, but expects that it will be able to ramp up its capacity again by 10 percent next year as demand slowly returns after cutting schedules by about 20 percent in September.
