NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Six weeks after America West Holdings Corp.'s (AWA) America West Airlines set off an air fare war by reducing prices of unrestricted tickets and eliminating Saturday-night stay requirements, its senior official said Tuesday the No. 8 carrier is committed to its new fare structure.
The lower fares lured business travelers to the Phoenix -based carrier and helped it fill more seats and earn more revenue last month, said Scott Kirby, America West's executive vice president of sales and marketing, in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires.
