American Airlines Reports October Traffic

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines, the world's largest carrier, reported a monthly load factor of 70.2 percent, an increase of 1.7 points compared to last year. Year-over-year gains were achieved in both domestic and international markets, with a load factor increase of 2.2 points in domestic markets and 0.3 points in international markets.

For the month, overall capacity declined 4.1 percent year over year, yet traffic fell by a much smaller 1.7 percent. Domestic traffic was down 3.5 percent on a 6.6 percent capacity reduction. In international markets, October traffic increased 3.0 percent on a year-over-year capacity increase of 2.5 percent.
