Delta has talked with several airlines over the past few years, American being one of them. However, it looks as if the domain registrations weren't anything worth noticing.

Neither ever actually got enabled, and a whois on either domain shows them as unregistered. If I had to guess, I'd say it was just a domain squatter and one of the airlines blocked the completion of the registration once they noticed the domains beginning to appear.
