British Airways sets job cuts ahead

LONDON (CBS.MW) - Shares of British Airways dipped 4 percent Monday after the flagship carrier turned to a loss in its December quarter amid the collapse in trans-Atlantic traffic.

BA further didn't release many details from its much-awaited restructuring plan, the "Future Size and Shape" of the airline, but Chief Executive Ron Eddington told BBC radio Monday that more job cuts are expected.

The airline (UK:BAY: news, chart, profile) posted operating loss of £187 million ($265 million) as sales dropped 20 percent to £1.8 billion in its fiscal third quarter. A year-ago, BA had an operating profit of £80 million.
