I have the reverse question as I posted in The Delta Forum. Can I check in in the morning at SFO for an evening Continental flight ATL-IAH-AUS? I have a really tight trans-carrier connection in ATL (<45min) and checking in ahead of time would be very useful. |

i would certainly call the airline, but under current conditions I expect the answer is NO, because check-in is a major security screen point , and pre-check-in would allow you to give your checked-in boarding pass to a stranger

Is there any airline now that allows pax to board without checking ID? I think the problem of passing off a boarding pass is pretty much resolved. |

I've tried doing this before and was denied. I had a trip on two different PNRs, going from HNL-LAX-LAS on one ticket, and then LAS-EWR on another, with a one hour connection at LAS. When I checked in at HNL I asked if I could check in for the LAS-EWR flight and was given a quite firm No. So it doesn't look like you'll be able to check in at SFO for your ATL- flight. |

Got it. I won't hold my breath, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning if I have some extra time at SFO. I'll report back here. Note my report in the Delta forum on a similar attempt on the outbound. |

Thanks for the help. I ultimately didn’t have time to wander around SFO to find the Continental Presidents Club to check-in. My flight ended up coming in late to ATL and I missed the IAH flight, anyway, so it was ultimately pretty moot. My RIM indicated that my IAH-bound flight left before my flight from SFO landed. I was pretty bummed, but I guess silver elite was probably was pretty happy to catch my confirmed F seats at the last minute. The entire experience is documented in my trip report. |
