HOUSTON, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL - news) said on Monday that its systemwide load factor for November slipped 1.2 points and its unit revenues remained weak as traffic slowly returned after the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States.

Continental, the No. 5 U.S. airline, said its load factor -- a measure of how much aircraft capacity is used -- was 71.4 percent compared with 72.6 percent a year earlier.

Load factor is a measure that tells you how full the planes are - but with most airlines having cut capacity after sept 11 doesn't tell you much except that the carrier cut capaccity about right. ASM and RSM give you a much better picture .
