Continental Losses Underline US Problems

The financial difficulties of the US airline industry were further underlined today when Continental Airlines reported a fourth quarter net loss of USD$220 million.

Only hours earlier another of the nation's major carriers, American Airlines, had announced the biggest loss in its history for the same three month period.

Continental's losses piled up despite receiving USD$174 million in help from the government's special aid program to the struggling airline industry
