Delta Air Lines Expands BusinessElite U.S. Service June 1

Quote:
ATLANTA -(Dow Jones)- Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) plans to add flights between its Atlanta hub, New York and Florida this summer, even as it continues with its plan to reduce overall capacity by 11% to 13%.

The airline will also increase frequency on a number of popular routes including Atlanta to Baltimore , Chicago , Colorado Springs , Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas and Los Angeles , Delta said in a press release Thursday.

The carrier also plans to discontinue nonstop service between Boston and London while adding additional flights from the Atlanta hub to London .

Delta hopes to take advantage of focused demand and competitive opportunities in some markets as it braces for continuing losses and lower revenue on the lingering impact of the Sept. 11 attacks.
