Delta, the first major airline to report results for the quarter, posted a net loss of $164 million, or $1.36 per share, compared with a net loss of $326 million, or $2.67 per share, a year earlier.
"Over the past two years, our industry has undergone dramatic, permanent changes," Delta Chairman and Chief Executive Leo Mullin said in a written statement. "Today's results, while somewhat better than we expected, show that Delta's challenges are not yet over."
