Opinion from Delta7203

August 06 i'm looking for a flight from PIT to MIA and seen that I could have the opportunity to fly on one of the 738's and was wondering what you think of this aircraft. Is it a new aircraft or did they just do a major upgrade on the flight controls?

Has delta completly redone the cockpit doors with top notch doors like airtran has and not just put that weak little box tubing bar across the old doors? Only reason i'm asking this is because after sept 11th I just like knowing that because it makes me feel more secure and comfortable knowing nobody can get in there at all.

Thanks for your time

Hey, sorry for the slow reply.

I'm not really sure what I can and cannot tell you about our doors. But I'll have you know that I feel perfectly safe in every cockpit in the Delta and Delta Connection fleets. Delta might slack in some areas but when it comes to protecting their pilots they are willing to go the whole 9 yards.

Oh yeah...and as for the 738, I love them. Actually I love 737s in general. The 737NGs have new Avionics (of course) and a lot of the aircraft has been reengineered but the basic shape of the classic 737s is still there. Our 737s have HUDs (I think all do but I'm not sure). Also the 737NG family is quiter and more efficient than the A320 family which is a major plus for us and our customers.

Hey thanks for the reply! I completely understand that you cannot discuss security measures for the safety of you guys up front and the safety of the PAX. Yeah my choices of aircraft are pretty limited from cleveland. Either a MD-80 or a 737-200 to ATL. And i hate the 732's only one I flew on was a delta express years ago and i'm pretty sure that part of the airline is history?
ATL to MIA has a nice selection from 757's to 764's 763's 738's..lol Can't make up my mind. Or I can just drink 64 biggie pepsi's from Wendy's and get a free flight on Airtran's 717 again..lol

Maybe if i choose delta this time you'll be the captain of my flight. You ever get to travel up and down the east coast at all? Or are you pretty much just a anywhere pilot?

Well actually I used to to the ATL-PHX runs all the time...then song started and now I do both song and delta flights which can be bad because I have forgotten which plane I am flying and have said "Welcome aboard Song Flight..." on a Delta 57 stupid me.

I'm more of a West and North pilot. The majority of my east coast flights are in the lime green 57s.
