Making Silver status

OK, I'm 38 credits short of making silver status. As seen here I don't need much to get that, but all of the cheap flights seem to be gone for the month (my deadline). Should I bother, or just buy into the qantas club?

How much?

What is the cost of buying the status vs a flight that would put you past the 38 credits?

It's $614.24 for one year membership to the qantas club, which is about equivilant to gold status. It would cost a couple hundred dollars to take the flight to get silver status.

The real question is how much flying I will be doing in the next year. I know I'll have to make at least one more trans-pacific trip, but I don't know how much more. And, if I move, my chances of flying Qantas again are rather small.

Status

Having the status will be nice, but if you don't plan on using it, than it's not really worthwhile.

Well I got it by making a flight I wanted to make anyway.

See the fruits of my labor here.
