UAL: Bankruptcy Filing Not an Option

UAL: Bankruptcy Filing Not an Option

Quote:
CHICAGO (Reuters) - UAL Corp.'s (NYSE:UAL - news) United Airlines said on Friday it was exploring all options to return the company to financial stability, but ruled out a possible bankruptcy filing, as President Bush (news - web sites) moved this week to avert a possible mechanics strike until next year.

Spokeswoman Susana Leyva told Reuters while ``everything is on the table,'' at the airline, a report in Friday's Washington Post that a bankruptcy filing was an option was not accurate.

If the thought of losing your miles proves overwhelming, you might want to consider the AwardGuard program (http://www.awardguard.com), which provides protection for your miles if the program should fail. It's a pretty neat program--sort of like an insurance plan for your frequent flier miles.
