United Airlines Parent Posts Record Loss

United Airlines parent UAL Corp. on Friday posted its largest annual net loss ever, $3.2 billion for 2002, after filing for bankruptcy protection in December.

The world's second-largest airline said its per-share loss for the year was $53.55 compared with an average estimate by analysts of a per-share loss of $38.92.

The annual loss was much larger than the previous record loss of $2.1 billion or $40.04 per share that UAL posted in 2001.
