Canadian background checks on UK citizens

i was wondering if anyone can help... i have a criminal record in the UK (including a DUI which i understand is fairly serious in canada) . i am flying to canada for a short period of time, what is the extent of the background checks the immigration officials can perform? do they have full access to my background info? would i be able to get away with lying and saying i have no record or would it be bewtter to declare my record?

thanks !

LYING.....THAT'S A QUALITY WE ALL ADMIRE

Let me see if I understand you correctly. You're a bad guy and plan to lie about your background. So your turn to us Americans for advice on our "favorite" neighbor to the north. First let me say that you should pray your ticket is refundable cuz you is caught bubba. However, if you really want to get in try this. Since Canada is going socialist you should destroy all your I.D. and documentation while in route. When you go through immigration you declare refugee status. You will be given a hearing within
18 months (suggestion- don't show up....no one does). You will then be eligible to work. If you can't find a job you will be able to draw welfare, get health care and if you bring children, free education. If you have a drug problem may I suggest Vancouver. They have a "safe shoot up zone" there where the government gives you your drugs and health care workers are there to assist you in shooting up so you don't harm yourself.

I trust you find this information helpful. FELON!

MUCH CLEARER NOW

[bThanks for clearing that up. I was worried. Lets see where we are now. DUI, lying and soliciting one of us to help you evade and deceive Canadian immigration. Do I have it right this time?
