How safe is New York for female tourists? (arriving in JFK)?

ok first of all, i just posted this and it was deleted, i dont know why???

I am an asian man, and my gf is an asian woman, she will be traveling to New York on business and plans to see some sights, shop and eat. All of this she would like to do during the day time. She will arrive at JFK international airport in Southern Queens.

A bus the company arranges will take her from the airport to her hotel somewhere in Southern Queens. But then, herself along with maybe one or two other very small figured asian girls plan to take the subway somewhere to sight see and shop. Keep in mind this is in the daytime, so I would like any advice that would be helpful about New York.

Will it be safe for these girls to travel alone? (their job requires them to be very attractive, so generally they are thought of as 'hot girls')
Are there any Subway stops or neighborhoods you could recommend them to stay away from?
Also any New York specific tips that aren't common sense?
