huge ass avatars

while I like that the new avatars are larger than the old ones, ones like tfungs really hose up reading threads on my laptop with a 8*6 screen.

Perhaps some sort of smaller avatar, and if you click on it, a larger one?

Ah, I see the problem...

phpBB2 actually denies avatars larger than 128x128 when uploading, so it's not an issue for new users. The problem is that the old code would allow the user to use any size image, but would force the image to display at a small size, scaling it as necessary. (tfung's avatar was 283x283 when you saw it)

Since tfung's image pre-dates the new code, it handily bypassed the size constraints. The system wouldn't normally allow someone to use an image that large.

I took the liberty of manually re-scaling tfung's avatar down to a more reasonable 96x96, and there are no other users with large images set. Should be OK from now on.
