Long story, but I may be leaving Sydney (for good) soon. Any ideas on cool places to visit on my way back toward NYC?

I figure I can either head east or west, so suggestions in either direction would be welcome.

Time is not really a factor, and I'm not on a scrict budget, but taking the concorde everywhere is not really an option.

I'm actually thinking of taking up to a couple of months to get from SYD to EWR, so places I could spend some time would be good.

AUS would be a very efficient destination due to its high density of #distributed and #ityt crewmembers.
