Need suggestions on the places to visit in India?

India is a rich country and I would be soon visiting the place with my friends. I have sorted out the places that would be on my top list. But, as we do not have all the time in the world so we have to shortlist some really good places to make our trip. The agenda for the visit would be some real good places that have a mark of history and cultural heritage. We do have our interests in such fields and would like to have some suggestions on that.

Depending on the # of days u are here, you could land in mumbai (bombay) and take a train to agra to see taj. you can also go to jaipur which is 200 kms and delhi again 200 kms (from both agra and jaipur). you could also see the khajuraho ruins in madhya pradesh. or roam rajasthan - udaipur, jodhpur etc.

Thanks

Need suggestions on the places to visit in India?

Hello Friends,
In my view, India is one of the biggest countries in all this world. There are many tourist destinations which arevisited by tourists from around the Map. In my opinion, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Agra, Goa and Bhopal,Himachal,Kashmir are the best historical and the most attractive places in India. Moreover, Manali, Ooty and Kerala are also good for romantic vacations.
Thanks.

Hi there! I am an American living in Pune, India.

In many many forums regarding travel to India (ex.Indiamike.com) I see a lot of similar stories of travellers. They take 2 months to go exploring a country they've never been. Which is nice, but all too often many people are not prepared for India (this place can be intense). Time and time again I see posts from depressed travellers who have realized they don't like India (after only a few days in a big city).
The cities aren't for everyone sometimes. In my opinion, most cities here are all the same. All of the major ones are worth seeing, but I wouldn't spend a lot of time in them, maybe 2 days tops. Lots of noise, people, beggars, pollution, dirt, trash, etc... and it's for these reasons many people are disappointed when they arrive (Not all! Just some).
I personally love India, it takes awhile to get used to everything. But it IS a rich and beautiful country and there are many things to see outside of cities. If you really want to enjoy a long trip here, give yourself ample time in countryside as well. Places such as Rajasthan in the north are BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous deserts and ancient forts to see. (just google images 'Rajasthan' and you'll see what I mean), keep in mind though if you're female you should probably dress conservatively (most women cover their legs are arms) when in the north. Anyway, that is just one example, the south is beautiful too.

Thanks for reading us.....
