Travel insurance

Travel insurance is a very good idea. It will help you with:

* medical expenses
* if you lose things or get robbed.

Some worst-case scenarios involve people getting stuck somewhere in a hospital and having to pay huge medical bills because they have not had travel insurance - even to the point of family members having to sell assets to help pay for it.

It's always better to be safe than sorry.

* Remember that the medical insurance that you have at home (eg. Medicare and private insurance companies) will not cover you while you are outside Australia.

You should definitely have some type of Visitor Insurance if you are going on a vacation. If you get injured abroad with no type of insurance, they may refuse to treat.
