I read on Sunday that the Emmys had been delayed, then I read that they had been cancelled, and now I'm hearing in an AP report that they may be held at a military base. Now, I'll admit that I don't watch the Emmys and really don't care to see them this year, either. However, I've been surprised to see the amount of news about the event. I can certainly understand the desire to postpone them last weekend; it's incredibly inappropriate to hold such a ceremony after the US armed forces begins attacks in another part of the world. However, the thought of hosting these at a military base or as a tape (non-live) event seems to be a demonstration of self-importance. Does anyone, besides the Emmy organizers, actually think that they're a legitimate target for terrorist attack? Daniel _________________ Daniel A. Baker -- dbaker@ityt.com -- web page |

It finally happened. I'm thrilled, since now I don't have to hear about how secure it's going to be. Winners at the 53rd Annual Emmys I was on pins and needles all night fretting for the safety of our world, er, I mean, television leaders! |

The stars went though a secure underground tunnel to get to the show. Guess they never thought that the tunnel could have been laced with anthrax. All the stars should have been in and received their awards in haz-mat suits. [ This Message was edited by: tycoonjack on 2001-11-05 17:47 ] |
