Airtran Mechanic makes Pilot Ranks

Thank you very much 717doc. Things are going great. First week down several more to go. . I will keep you informed of my progress. The first 2 weeks are all FOM training. Then the week of Thanksgiving we start aircraft specific 717 for me and 11 others. Really looking forward to that. See ya around

Wow! B717mech, how did you build the hours while working as a mechanic? Flight instructing? Flying for a 135 outfit?

I did it mostly by working on other peoples airplanes for flight time. Then from there if someone needed a right seater that didn't want to fly single pilot they would call me. Then with alot of luck and several reccomendations I finally got in

Cool deal man congrats on that. Maybe you will be the capt of one of my future airtran flights. I wish I would of went to flight school when I was thinking about it really hard.

Our F.O.M. test was Thursday afternoon, so first part down, several more to go. Monday we start aircraft specific. Which includes two weeks of procedure trainers and virtual procedure trainers. Then off to the simulators for another two weeks

OK, Been long enough time for an update.......

Finished With aircraft specific training FMS and VPT. Now off to the simulator. They have approached me about being an instructor at the training center to teach ground school and aircraft systems. So I will probably be doing that as well as sim training. So that is the lastest. Everyone have a great Christmas and New Year. That also means you Dbaker.
