Frontrunner AirTran

Ranking of U.S. airlines by quality of service

Associated Press
Published on: 04/04/05

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines ranks 11th in an annual rating of airline quality, based on 2003 and 2004 Transportation Department statistics.

Delta units Comair and Atlantic Southeast Airlines were ranked last among the 16 airlines ranked.

AirTran, the second-largest airline at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, was ranked second in the study.

The study was written at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute and W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.

The rankings:

1) JetBlue Airlines

2) AirTran Airways

3) Southwest Airlines

4) United Airlines

5) Alaska Airlines

6) America West Airlines

7) Northwest Airlines

8- American Airlines

9) Continental Airlines

10) American Trans Air

11) Delta Air Lines

12) US Airways

13) American Eagle Airlines

14) SkyWest

15) Comair

16) Atlantic Southeast Airlines
Combined with their #1 Baggage Handling status and Entrepreneur's Airline of the Year Award (5th time), speaks volumes about the quality of AirTran

Well, that warms my heart, and makes me feel sorry I ever called Wichita "wih-cheetah".

Seriously, it is great to know that our efforts over the past three years to improve our service are getting noticed. . . and I have to say that it is probably the efforts of the Flight Attendents, the rampers, the gate agents, and maintenance (in no special order) that have made the biggest contribution here. The pilots fly the planes safely and economically, and try to do what we can/ where we can, but it is the members of the above groups that are largely responsible for this improvement.

Congratulations . . . . and here is to the F/A's getting a new contract- they certainly deserve it.

Time for my 2 cents...

I absolutely hate jetBlue....I hope you guys blow them out of the water by this time next year! Seriously...that airline should not even exist.

John and all of the Happy
