I know that first officer training is about 6 weeks long here at AirTran but you are not type rated. You get type rated when you upgrade to Captain. Capt. upgrade is also 6 weeks long with another 100 hrs of flying with a check airmen on revenue flights. These are company check airmen not FAA check airmen. The FAA comes in to play on one of your last flights and rides jumpseat to give you your final capt. sign off.
