Once you have your tickets purchased and a hotel booking for at least for the first few nights - getting tours is the easy part after you get to Bangkok! Thailand makes signing up for tours real easy. Travel agents act as brokers for tour companies. Many travel agencies have a menu list of available tours that you can sign up for. Often you can sign up for a tour the night before and leave the following morning. The tour company picks you up at your hotel and returns you there after the tour is over. Very easy! Some travel agencies have a list of tours posted on their windows or doors advertising their services and prices. Even some hotels have a tour desk that can sign you up for tours. This is another good source of information but sometimes their tours are more expensive than simply going into one of the many travel agencies all over Bangkok. Tours purchased when you are overseas are usually more expensive than what you can get in person AFTER you arrive in Thailand! Have fun. |

It is not really necessary to sign up for tours while you are still in your own country! You can get tours in Thailand AFTER you get there! Your tours will be cheaper this way and you will have more flexibility! Travel agencies in Thailand (especially Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai) act as tour brokers. They will have a selection of most favorite tourist destinations that you can choose from. Choose a tour in the evening and leave the following morning, choose a tour in the morning and leave that afternoon or at least that evening. Very simple! Even many hotels have a tour desk or can set you up with a tour. But you can sign up for some "holiday excursion" when you are in your country, they will provide tours, etc. but you will pay more and you are set into a particular places to see on their schedule! Tour company will pick you up at your hotel and return you there at the end of the trip. Anytime you are away from your hotel more than 2 hours always have some TP and Wetwipes in your carry bag - toilets may not have toilet paper once you leave your hotel.
Air conditioned hotel rooms with hot water, private toilet/shower, color TV and maid service will start in Bangkok in a range from 500/600/700 baht per night. Luxury end from 3500 baht per night on up! A price range of 900 - 1500 baht will give you a hotel room that is not too bad! (Backpackers stay in places that are down around 100 - 250 baht per night for a dorm slot.) Google search will give you thousands of ideas on what to see and do in Thailand! Things to see and do in Thailand: http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2490 http://www.asiatraveltips.com/ThingstodoinBangkok.shtml http://www.asiatravel.com/bangkok_info/temple.html http://www.worldtravelguide.net/coun.../Thailand.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...-Thailand.html http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguid...things_to_do-i Beaches of Thailand: http://www.phuket.com/island/10mustsee.htm http://www.world66.com/asia/southeas...ailand/beaches Book your own tickets to Bangkok, spend 2 or 4 days there. This will give you a chance to get used to the time changes and temperature. Thailand has warm summer type weather top to bottom. You do not have to be at a beach to get a suntan. During this first few days in Bangkok you can take some tours, see the city and possibly book a flight to Phuket or somewhere else. You can reserve a sleeper train to Chiang Mai and save the price of a hotel in Bangkok and arrive in Chiang Mai in the morning. Finish up with a final night in Bangkok to do some last minute shopping, take a dinner cruise and not worry about your connecting flight breaking down and you missing your flight home. Bangkok has two airports that serve the city. Don Muang also has flights to many cities in Thailand. When booking a flight out immediately to avoid Bangkok keep that in mind - both airports are not close together! Don't spend all of your time at a beach area, see some of the places in Thailand that make that country unique! See some of the Long Neck Women in the Chiang Mai area, see local hill tribes, ride elephants, take rafts down rivers and visit historic temples! Thailand is a good starting point for visits to other nearby countries like Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia. Have a nice holiday. Last edited by Frosty; 10-07-2008 at 12:24 PM. |
