United Airlines Flight 93 was the third hijacked aircraft on 09/11/2001. It was a 757-200 series aircraft en route EWR-SFO. After it was hijacked, passenger attempted to regain control of the aircraft and it crashed in southwestern Pennsylvania moments later.

The full-length recording of the ATC traffic for United Airlines Flight Number 93 is now available for download on ITYT. The hijackers in the cockpit were clearly not familiar with the aircraft's communication system and presumably accidently broadcasted several times on a radio frequency instead of to the cabin. Accordingly, this recording is exceptionally interesting because you can actually hear this hijackers' annoucements to passengers.

Play time is 238 seconds.

Warning: This recording is not suited for the faint of heart or very emotional. The contents may be disturbing to you.

Pilots appeal to Ashcroft to not air Flight 93 tapes (http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/020417/attack_aviation_tapes_2.html)

WASHINGTON, April 17 (Reuters) - Airline pilots made a last-ditch appeal to U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft late on Wednesday to not permit the release of cockpit voice recordings from the hijacked United Airlines jet that crashed in Pennsylvania on Sept. 11.

The FBI, which is leading the Sept. 11 investigation of the terrorist hijackings of four airliners, plans on Thursday in Princeton, New Jersey, to play the cockpit tapes from Flight 93 to family members of those killed.

In a letter to Ashcroft, the Air Line Pilots Association said releasing the tapes to the families would violate privacy concerns and possibly harm the Sept. 11 investigation and future crash probes.

Note that the appeal applies to the cockpit voice recording and not the ATC recording that is available above.
