Hey all,
Would anyone happen to know what the current regulations are for American citizens going from America to Cuba? Would one have to stopover in an intermediate country? (I know there's a trade embargo, but this just applies to things you bring back, no?)

There are no scheduled direct flights between the US & Cuba. You need to go via an approved charter flight, or go via another country (Mexico or Canada, for example).

If you are a US Citizen, I strongly suggest you read the US State Dept Consular Information Sheet on Cuba for more info:
