Where to meet in the middle...

I've just met this wonderful girl on a summer camp in Colchester. We've become very close and we want to see each other as often as we can. The only problem is, i'm in Manchester and she's in Ilford/Essex. Neither of us can travel by car and we can't stay over anywhere: It's got to be a day trip.

We both want to meet in the middle, but where? Which town is best? And what place do we go to?

Any ideas?
