I don't know how many times I've heard people mock the flight attendants for giving instructions on how to evac after a water landing or any kind of crash, in fact.
I've always felt that it was very possible to survive many, many times of crashes.

WASHINGTON –– An Air Force B-1B bomber involved in the war in Afghanistan went down in the Indian Ocean Wednesday and all four crew members were rescued, Pentagon officials said.

Yeah, but they did get to eject, unlike passengers.

I forgot that the B-1B has the ability for the crew to eject; you're right.

I will reference you to the following article at CNN involving the crash of a hijacked Boeing 767 into the Atlantic Ocean off of the Ivory Coast in Africa.

I believe there was footage of this crash, if I recall correctly. And it wasn’t something that I would want to be in, but it does prove that one can survive a plane crash.

Goto: http://www.emergency-management.net/pub7.htm
It goes into a lot of detail as to why people die in aircraft accidents. It seems that in many accidents, where most or all of the passengers survived the initial crash, fire was the thing that killed people. At least in crashes onto land.
See http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/9611/24/ethiopia.hijack/index.html to soo videos and hear audios about the Ethiopian Airlines crash into the ocean. Also to correct my previous post, the Jet crash landed in the Comoros Islands which are NOT in the Atlantic Ocean but are between Africa and Madigascar in the Indian ocean. I guess I need to read a little closer. :-?

I agree that ppl will probably survive the first initial crash...however, i doubt the plane will float on the waters like boats...
