NEW YORK, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Hoping to steady travelers wary about airport delays, major U.S. airlines are experimenting with special lanes to speed up security checks for their prized business-class and premium passengers.

With air traffic still in a slump, airlines are trying to keep their most lucrative customers happy by quashing worries that tighter security after September's attacks might slow airport security processing.

Delta Air Lines (NYSEAL - news), the nation's third-largest airline, said on Wednesday that it was testing separate security processing at its Atlanta hub and seven other airports to shorten waiting time for its top customers.
