PHOENIX, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA)
announced today it has completed the installation of secondary reinforcing
restraints on flight deck doors on all of its operating aircraft.
"America West is committed to enhancing security for our customers and
employees," said Jeffrey McClelland, executive vice president of operations.
"Our operations team has been working diligently to complete this initial
phase to further secure the flight deck. The completion of this project ahead
of schedule demonstrates the coordinated effort and dedication of our
employees."
These restraints are part of the first phase of a comprehensive plan by
industry and government to provide greater flight deck security.

America West Airlines, the nation's eighth-largest carrier, serves
90 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Along with its codeshare
partners, America West serves more than 180 destinations worldwide. America
West Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of America West Holdings
Corporation, an aviation and travel services company with 2000 sales of
$2.3 billion.
