Each had tacked on a $10 fee each way, or $20 on round-trip tickets, in what American and US Airways called a fuel surcharge. A spokeswoman for Delta said the fee was just a general fare increase.
AMR Corp.'s (NYSE:AMR - News) American was the first to initiate the fuel surcharge last Thursday, and US Airways and Delta matched the higher fares.
