Boeing focuses on shuttle inquiry

Boeing - the US aviation giant which is Nasa's largest contractor - has said it is doing "everything possible" to help officials discover the cause of Saturday's shuttle disaster.

The Columbia shuttle was originally built by Rockwell International, but Boeing acquired Rockwell's space business in 1996.

Analysts said it was too early to say what effect the tragedy would have on the company's business.

But they said Saturday's events would almost certainly lead to a delay in the space programme, which could hit all Nasa contractors.
