CHICAGO, April 23 (Reuters) - Major U.S. air carriers, counting on a resumption in business travel to stem billions of dollars in losses following the Sept. 11 attacks, may have to look for relief elsewhere, according to a survey released on Tuesday.
The Business Travel Coalition, an advocacy group for corporate travel interests, said its survey found that corporations cut air fare spending by 16.5 percent in 2001 from a year earlier and more than half said they want to cut costs even more in 2002. Three-quarters of the 184 companies questioned said at least part of the cuts were planned as permanent.
