CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) - On the first day the government took responsibility for airport security, some passengers noticed extra vigilance and felt reassured by the change. Federal officials pledged on Sunday to protect travelers and treat them with courtesy.

The second major deadline in the new airline security law passed as smoothly as the first, when airlines last month began inspecting checked baggage for explosives. A new federal agency now oversees aviation security rather than the airline industry and Federal Aviation Administration.

My next trip isn't until Friday, but I'm looking forward to seeing any changes. Anyone have any interesting experiences?

The morons did not treat us with any respect or courtesy before, what makes anyone think that once they are federal employees (With no fear of being terminated), they will now start doing so?

Of course it went smoothly. The only change that went into effect is the the security companies are now contracted by the government, not the airlines. None of the morons have been hired by the government, YET.

I already have the first letter to my nitwit congressman, drunken senator and money marrying senator drafted. The first time I am not treated with courtesy, It goes in the mail. Me thinks the staffers for these three will soon get sick of my letters.

Let me sit on it for a while. I tend to rewrite letters a few times so that they are not a caustic as the originals.
