| Gloom Grows Over Spiraling Mideast Violence
Two Israeli women wounded in a Palestinian gunman's rampage died Wednesday and U.S.-led hopes of ending Israeli-Palestinian bloodshed were buried deeper under a mountain of violence and vengeance.
__________________Israel vowed to respond and put its forces on alert for more attacks after Tuesday's shooting on Jerusalem's main shopping street, in which 14 other people were hurt.
