Metal detector was unplugged at Sacramento International Air

Metal detector was unplugged at Sacramento International Airport

Quote:
SACRAMENTO, (AP) - A metal detector cord was unplugged inside Terminal A at Sacramento International Airport early Friday morning, causing some flights to be delayed and two planes that had just left the terminal to be called back in, airport officials said.
"We don't know if someone stepped on it or if it was kicked out of place," said Laura Lang, airport spokeswoman.

Once the metal detector was plugged back in, passengers who had walked through the metal detector earlier had to be rescreened before they were allowed back inside the terminal, which houses Southwest Airlines. The passengers who were on the two planes that getting ready to depart also had to be rescreened.

Yeah and when I'm called back to go through security, I'm going to take my carried on bombs with me to be re-checked.

I guess there really isn't much else they could do. It wouldn't have been practical to send everyone home, soup-nazi style.. "No flight for you! Come back one year!"

They use the same procedures as if someone runs through security without being screened. The terminal is emptied and before screening begins again, law enforcement officers do a full screening of the terminal.

Obviously, this is lame, but it's really the best thing that could be done to recover it logistically. Now, the best way to prevent it from happening again is an entirely different issue.
