National Airlines ceases operations

Quote:
LAS VEGAS, NV (NOV 6) - National Airlines announced that it will cease operations, effective November 6, 2002. The cessation of operations was necessitated after the carrier was unable to complete a previously announced agreement to the satisfaction of its senior management, Board of Directors, aircraft lessors and other key creditors.

On the radio, they said flat out no refunds no nothin' for anybody. Just pull the plug, lock the door, and watch the employees try to make off with anything not bolted down :)

I believe that other US carriers have an obligation to honor tickets issued before their annoucement on a standby basis with a reasonable administrative fee.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/st...110710246.html

Quote:
Tourists in the nation's gambling capital were left with questions and no tickets Thursday after National Airlines ended nearly two years in bankruptcy court and quit flying.

The Las Vegas-based airline grounded its 18 aircraft late Wednesday in Las Vegas with little warning and no refunds for thousands of travelers forced to make other travel arrangements.

I did hear on the news that America West and Frontier were the only airlines willing to accept National tickets for standby with a service fee. All other airlines were turning them down.
