New Mini-Bar Will Catch You in a Fib

After a long day on the road, a mini-bar in a hotel room is a convenience many travelers welcome. If you're hungry or thirsty, there's
no need to get dressed and schlep down the hall to a vending machine for a snack, or to wait for a room-service waiter to bring a treat that is likely to cost even more than mini-bar items. Before you reach for that
$3 canned soft drink in the mini-bar, however, you should make sure you know a couple of things, reports Tom Belden.

They've had these for a while and they're annoying and inconsistent.

The sensors need to be less sensitive and need to allow the product to be removed for 30sec or something so that you can look at it. Often, the bottles of wine are lying at the bottom and it's normal to remove each one to look at them before making your selection. However, with lots of minibar systems, that will automatically charge you for all three, even the ones that you replace.

If you're staying for multiple nights, they'll notice the error when they attempt to restock the bar the next day.

They never once fail to charge me for something that I took, but I'm consistnetly charged with things that I didn't take, which is why the front desk gets so many complaints.

Sensors

Yeah, those sensors are not very nice. I have tried to defeat them several times, just too look at stuff, cause they would see what was missing when the check on it, but ended up knocking some other things off, and getting charged for all of it. But luckly they noticed the slip up between nothing taken and lots of things charged. But there should be a better way of setting the sensors.
