Radioactive scare at Sky Harbor

Radioactive scare at Sky Harbor

Quote:
Firefighters were called to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to clean up a radioactive spill Tuesday night.

A small package, no larger than a pack of cigarettes, from a pharmaceutical was being moved near Terminal 2 when it apparently fell off a baggage car sometime around 8 p.m.

The package was reportedly run over, causing a tiny amount of the material to leak. Crews roped off the area as a precaution.

Firefighters decked out in chemical-resistant suits cleaned up the spill and after some investigation, the area was cleared for use.

Traffic at the airport was not interrupted and nobody was exposed to the material.
