I've got an HHonors Gold card in my travel wallet, but I don't think I've actually stayed at a Hilton since getting the card. It's a comped card from Amex Plat or some other merchant relationship I have. Don't recall specifically which one.

I'll be at the Hilton Crystal City in DC tomorrow night, that'll be my first stay at a Hilton since getting the card.

Can I expect any special treatment?

I've got zero loyalty when it comes to hotels. I never make a concerted effort to stay at any particular chain.

There are no real great loyalty programs that I have found in hotel chains, unlike airlines. Does anyone know of an actual good program?

Well. some thinks that Starwood is a really good program...after comped to Plat...i have been staying at the Fourpoints..and let me tell you what i don't like.... with HH...you get free breakfast....so when I staye at the Doubletree Tucson, the buffet is free for me....but with Fourpoints, i have to pay for breakfast, that alone will make me go back to HH and MR next time....the only benefit for the Starwood Plat to me is 50% more points, and no blackout dates...but HH diamonds have no blackout dates either...

so in the end...i like Hhonors and MR...then i might make 2nd tier with Starwood.

Some people swear by Starwood. IME, they are people who have a blank check when it comes to hotel costs. Westin and Sheratons are usually VERY overpriced. 4 Points are an overpriced and overrated equivelant to Hampton Inn. Overall I give Hampton a MUCH better rating as far as consistency than I would give 4 Points.

If you can make Diamond, HHonors is a great program. If not, it's pretty much garden variety. They give a way Gold status like candy, so Gold does not get you much. Remember, it's 28 STAYS to make Diamond. So, it's easier to acheive top level status with HHonors than it is with Marriot.

Well. I am not too crazy about the Fourpoints...been staying here for almost 2 weeks...

Breakfast is my main gripe: they will not give free breakfast to Elites!

My fav properties
1)Homewood Suites (By far the best in quality)
2) Residence Inn (alot of them, and good rates)
3)Hampton Inn(cheap, and i need more nights:))
4)Doubletree (need more nights...and good quality)
5)Fourpoints (need nights to qualify for SPG elite)
