Air Canada - a 2 Star airline?

What is going on with Air Canada!
3 weeks ago I had to take a business class trip Toronto - Shanghai - London (UK) – Toronto, at a full fare cost of over $10,000. The connections made it sensible to travel with Air Canada and their partners. My wife joined me in London for the last leg of the journey. We traveled back on the same flight but with both an economy ticket and a business class ticket.
What big mistake it was to use Air Canada!
We arrived at the Air Canada lounge in London for the return flight back to Toronto. Unbelievably, we were turned away because my wife only had an economy class ticket. Entrance to the lounge would be an additional £10 despite my traveling business class and having just spent over $10,000 for flights with Air Canada on that trip.
No exceptions – period.
But then, the business class section didn’t even have the sleeper beds that are standard now on transatlantic flights with other airlines. Actually, the flight attendant commented that this seating was normal on Air Canada aircraft. I am not an aircraft buff but the aircraft used seemed really old and shabby – it was like going back in time 20 years.
So let this be a warning to fellow travelers – Air Canada just doesn’t get it yet!
