American Eagle to Launch Regional Jet Service From LAX in February 2002

Quote:
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle, regional affiliate of American Airlines and the world's largest regional airline, announced today that it will launch regional jet service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning in February 2002 with service to Albuquerque, Phoenix and Oakland.

``We are delighted to be able to provide our West Coast customers the added comfort and flexibility offered by our fleet's newest regional jets, the 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140,'' said Peter Bowler, Eagle's president. ``Eagle has a long history of service with turboprop aircraft into LAX, and with a regional jet fleet of more than 100, it's long overdue that we brought this level of service to California, Arizona and New Mexico.''

Eagle's initial three destinations will include Albuquerque, Phoenix and Oakland with LAX service expanding to Sacramento in early March at the same time Eagle will establish service between Phoenix and San Jose. In all, Eagle will be adding 19 RJ round-trip flights at LAX. March's four round-trip flights between Phoenix and San Jose will allow Narita, Japan, passengers to connect to Phoenix. The new jets will operate out of LAX Terminal 3 with jet-bridged service at each gate.
