| A Question About My Connections
My company is sending me from PHL--->DTW--->MSY on the departure and MSY--->IAH--->DCA on the return. There is about an hour in between in DTW and IAH for connections is that enough time?

I can't speak for DTW, but an hour at IAH is normal and quite sufficient. In an hour I still manage to find time for a beer and dialing in to the net from the President's Club, usually.

I can speak for DTW, since i've gone through there a few times. An hour is enough time, but for next time i would recommend NOT going through DTW. Since the city is pretty disgusting the people who work there are dumb, so to say. I've also gotten a lot of delays through there, and in all my flying (50,000 miles a year) I've only experience delays in DTW. Try to avoid it.

I unfortunately do not have much input on my travel arraignments. I can however make suggestions and for the future if I ever have to do this run, I will mention to keep me out of DTW. I may have the option of connecting through Memphis, Tn., or MSP are they any better?

I haven't xfered MSP in years. I've had a disproportionate number of misconnects and cancellations at MEM, though. I've had to spend the night there before, as well as take alternate flights and drive a couple hundred miles, etc. It's been hell. But, then again, that seems to pretty much just be the Northwest Airlines experience, so I don't know if I can really attribute it to MEM. MEM also has less WorldClubs than they did a couple years ago, so you may be waiting out in the concourse more than usual. |

I don't know how long ago you went through MEM dbaker but it has changed. I've gone through MEM quite a few times and had early departures and arrivals. 1 worldclub is located at MEM and this can be anoying. If you had a choice between DTW and MEM I would suggest going through MEM. MSP is great! MSP is one of my favorite airports to connect in. The staff in MSP is marvelous and so friendly. The only minus about MSP is that it does not have a tram. The airport is quite big and walking for gate to gate can be a hassle since it's so far. I overheared a QSA agent (Qualified Service Agent, they deal with UM's and help people with check-in) that one day he had to walk over 14 miles to assist passengers. The weather can also be deadly sometimes during winter with snow storms, but i've never experienced a delay due to weather. I think snow in MSP is like sunshine in FLL. |
